ATLANTA CLUB REVEL HOSTS WORLD BOXING ASSOCIATION TITLE FIGHT FRIDAY MAY 10

World class boxing returns to Atlanta Friday, May 10 as local undefeated middleweight Carlos “Kitten” Monroe, Jr. (14-0) challenges former WBC Latino Champion, Colombia’s Juan Carlos “De Angel” Monterossa (21-10-1) for the WBA Fedelatin Championship. The title event tops a international star-studded 12 bout show hosted by Club Revel, 1778 Ellsworth Industrial Drive, West Midtown Atlanta. Tickets are available at Eventbrite.com. Doors open at 6 PM. First bell rings at 8 PM.
Monroe was a National Amateur Champion and became a local boxing star training out of Decatur Boxing Club with Coach Xavier Biggs. In the past 18 months he has run up 14 straight professional wins under the tutelage of Mike Tyson trainer Stacey Mckinley, Strength Coach Ramone Hayes, and Coach Biggs. Monterossa, the talented Barranquilla, Colombia prospect, fought top middleweights en route to the WBC Latino title. He is Monroe’s most formidable opponent to date.
Veteran matchmaker Harry Barnett has loaded Friday’s undercard with several International boxers as well as Georgia’s rising stars. Local favorites include Honduras native Sixto Sauza, Dominican Republic’s jesus Almonte, Antonio Todd, Deonte Brown, Demitri Bentley, Octavius Bowman and Hakim Lopez.
Club Revel also contracted Kingston Jamaica amateur champion, Ian Darby, who chose Atlanta to launch his professional career . He faces eight fight veteran Jayln Anthony of Arkansas. Darby is mentored by manager Caren Halliwell and legendary coach Willie Yap, who guided Mike McCallum to Three world titles. Another world class competitor is highly decorated Azerbaijon star Elvin Gambarov who hopes to impress local fans with his rugged style.
The event is being promoted by Tory Thomas and Terri Moss. “This is our second event at Revel,” Terri said, “and partnering with Tory and his team, we’re definitely bringing the fights back to Atlanta, putting boxing back on the map here, and with these shows at Revel, combining the best of both worlds, putting entertainment and world class boxing together for another amazing evening.
Friday’s show promises toe to toe boxing with some of Atlanta’s talented and rising fighters at Club Revel, Atlanta’s most glamorous entertainment venue. Born and Raised in South Lake Tahoe, California he now resides in Sun Valley, Nevada and spends as much time as possible with his Sons Gabriel and Oscar! Beyond boxing, Simon is an all around sports fanatic and is passionate about the teams that he roots for. Simon also works as a Sportsbook Supervisor for Caesars Sportsbook in Lake Tahoe.
